Arrest Made in Cheyenne Hotel Armed Robbery

A Cheyenne man is behind bars in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a Cheyenne hotel one month ago.

Officer Kevin Malatesta with the Cheyenne Police Department says 27-year-old Justin Smith was arrested without incident Thursday night.

Smith is accused of robbing the Fairfield Inn and Suites on Stillwater Avenue on the night of June 14.

"He pointed a pistol at the clerk behind the counter, demanded cash and made off with a small amount of cash," said Malatesta. "Our detectives investigated the scene, basically found some evidence there that I can't disclose and linked it back to him."

Smith is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday.

The case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
