UPDATE:

A 14-year-old Cheyenne boy is in custody after allegedly robbing a south Cheyenne dollar store at knifepoint this (Thursday) morning.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says officers were called to a robbery in progress at the Family Dollar at 508 Central Avenue around 11:20 a.m.

"The suspect was described to officers as a person wearing a gorilla mask who displayed a knife and was successful in obtaining cash before leaving on a push scooter," said Malatesta.

"Officers quickly arrived and located the suspect as he attempted to flee," Malatesta added.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, police aren't releasing his name.  Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

"I'd say this one is pretty bananas," said Malatesta. "It's something we don't typically encounter."
