Amateur radio organizations in Wyoming will be riding the air waves to participate in an annual Simulated Emergency Test (SET).

The SET will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 and will be controlled from the State Operations Center radio room, which will be operated by Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) volunteers. The State Operations Center is located at 5500 Bishop Blvd., Cheyenne, Wyo.

Wyoming Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Kelly Ruiz says the goal of the SET is to test the equipment and train the amateur radio operators and ensure their ability to provide emergency communications to served agencies; provide a demonstration to those agencies and assist radio amateurs in gaining experience in communications on a variety of equipment.
