A Colorado Springs man with four drunk driving convictions could face seven years in prison after allegedly whizzing by a Wyoming trooper while drunk.

According to an affidavit, 35-year-old David Louis Fernandez was pulled over on June 29 after a trooper on Interstate 25 clocked him doing 110 mph in a 75 mph zone south of Cheyenne.

Fernandez reportedly had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, but denied he'd been drinking.

When the trooper instructed Fernandez to exit his SUV and walk to the rear of it, he reportedly stumbled multiple times. He was subsequently arrested and later blew a .228, nearly three times the legal limit.

Fernandez has been charged with DUI-fourth offense, driving while under suspension and speeding. He's currently being held in the Laramie County jail on a $3,000 cash bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 11.
