COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Air Force Academy cadets are helping to clear land in areas damaged by last year's Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs. More than 70 cadets volunteered to remove burned material on Sunday in the vicinity of the Mountain Shadows subdivision. The Waldo Canyon fire destroyed 347 homes and killed two people when it raced into Colorado Springs in June 2012. The fire reached the boundary of the 28-square-mile academy campus, which sits just north of Colorado Springs. Cadets are working with the Colorado Springs Forestry Office and about 90 homeowners in Sunday's cleanup.
