The deal was that whoever bought the house in Belabre, France was to keep the soldiers room "as was" in 1918.  The bedroom of a slain World War I soldier Hubert Rochereau, who died at age 21 on the battlefield in Belgium on April 26, 1918, has stayed exactly the way he left it. His parents had a contract written into the homes deed with the stipulation that any future residents of the home, must keep the room for 500 years as it was when their son left in 1918.

There was one addition to the room, which was a cylinder of soil from the battle field, which sits in the room today.

Daniel Fabre who owns the home, said he has granted the wishes of the Rochereau family, but he feels little connection with the soldier.

Below is a video showing the room and some other history about it.
