The Laramie Ranger District fire crews are conducting a prescribed burn in the northeast corner of the Pole Mountain unit today.

The burn is on Medicine Bow National Forest lands in eastern Albany County.

Fire managers are targeting accumulated dead fuels, such as thick layers of pine needles under stands of large pines.

Approximately 28 acres is being targeted with the operation starting at noon.

Smoke may be visible from I-80 and Wyoming Highway 210 (Happy Jack Highway) and surrounding areas during burning operations. There will be signs along roadways adjacent to the burn notifying the public of the burn.
