It's usually a good thing when something that is lost, becomes found. Whether it's personal items or family, it's good to have these returned back to us.  The dogs name is Smuckers, like the jelly and he resides in Denver, Colorado. About ten years ago, while Smuckers was out one day doing his dog thing, he dug up a very precious medal. Not the kind of precious metal that you may be thinking about, but an old soldiers Purple Heart Medal from the Korean War.

The Purple Heart is a medal given to soldiers in combat, who were wounded. The medal belongs to a Cpl. Richard Litman, who fought in the Korean War.

After Captain Zachariah Fike of Purple Hearts United put out the call, a woman claiming to be Cpl. Litman's daughter has come forward. A special return ceremony will be conducted in about a week or so.

Purple Hearts United said that they have returned about 150 Purple Hearts to those veterans who have lost them. They are doing a good work and we salute them for it.
