Twenty-four Afflerbach Elementary students received medical attention Thursday afternoon after ingesting an unknown substance, according to a press release from the Laramie County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff's deputies and other emergency responders were called to the school a little after 2pm Thursday, on a report by school staff that the students had ingested a substance apparently brought on to the property by a student and possibly a sibling from a nearby middle school. None of the children were transported to any medical facility, according to the press release. Initial investigation at the state crime lab showed the substance was possibly a concentrated food coloring with a high sugar content, according to the press release.
