Wyoming's fourth and eighth graders continue to outperform national average test scores in science.

2015 National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) science scores released by the Wyoming Department of Education today (Friday) show only two states performed higher in fourth grade science. In eighth grade, four states performed higher.

"Overall results are favorable for Wyoming and that is a credit to our schools, students and communities," said Superintendent Jillian Balow.

"As we look toward the implementation of new science standards, we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to make more progress and close achievement gaps," Balow added.

NAEP testing is typically administered every two years in math and reading and every four years in science.
