A lighting project that was approved by voters in a  2012 sixth-penny election will be implemented this week, according to a spokesman for the City of Cheyenne.

Scott Smith says the Reiman Corp. will start to install decorative lights on 17th Street between Warren and Central Avenues on Monday, May 8 weather permitting. The work will start at Warren and Central and move a block a day to the west before ending at 17th Street and Carey Avenue.

The street closures on 17th Street are expected to last three days while the work continues. A second, unrelated street closure is slated to start Monday on Dey Avenue between West Lincolnway and Ames Avenue, where Simon Contractors will be working on the south culvert.

That section of Dey Avenue is also expected to be closed for three days for that work.
