For the first time ever, deputies from the Laramie County Sheriff's Department and a Cheyenne police officer participated in the 14th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail on October 19.

Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Captain Linda Gesell says the agencies attempted to serve 68 outstanding arrest warrants related to domestic violence.

"Eleven arrests were made," said Gesell. "Out of those 11 arrests, we gathered two additional citations for possession of a controlled substance."

Nationally, 400 law enforcement agencies from over 45 states participated in the day-long sweep.

"There were 1,202 arrests made and over 6,000 attempts," said Gesell. "That to me is a lot."
