UPDATE:

A Cheyenne man is behind bars after leading authorities on a high-speed chase throughout Cheyenne early this (Thursday) morning.

Laramie County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Captain Linda Gesell says a deputy pulled the man over near the intersection of South Greeley Highway and Allison Road shortly before 1 a.m.

"He ran a flashing red light," said Gesell. "He did initially stop, but the guy wanted to know if he was under arrest. The deputy said no, but you have to wait until I issue your citation and that's when the guy took off."

"He took off at a high rate of speed coming into the city over the viaduct and that's when the supervisor called off the pursuit," added Gesell.

Cheyenne Police were unable to stop the driver when he came over the viaduct, but later spotted him and were able to spike the tires on his pickup.

The driver, who has not yet been identified, was arrested for DUI as well as numerous other charges.
